What will the EU Pay Transparency Directive 2026 change?

From 7 June 2026, at the latest, the Directive (EU) 2023/970 “EU Pay Transparency Directive” will be translated into French law.  It will transform pay transparency within the bloc and the objective of the Directive is to reduce salary inequality between men and women.

The directive concerns companies with over 50 employees and the major points are below:

  • Companies must indicate in their employment offers, before the first interview, the proposed salary (example 45KE or at least a min/max. example 40 – 50KE salary).
  • It will be prohibited to ask candidates their previous salaries
  • Salary equality within companies will be obligatory
  • Once employed each company should make available to employees the criteria used to determine: remuneration; pay levels; the increase in remuneration.*

*employees will not have the right to request salary data about colleagues.
